Michael Amici Named Director of Technology

The Cheektowaga Central School District (CSD) named Michael Amici to the position of Director of Technology, effective July 11. Amici will be responsible for overseeing the technology department and supporting instructional technology and professional development. 

Amici comes to Cheektowaga CSD from Erie 1 BOCES, where he was employed for the past 16 years. During the last 3 years of his employment at Erie 1 BOCES he served as a technology integrator in Cheektowaga CSD where he pushed into the classrooms to help teachers and students with technology.

His career at Erie 1 BOCES began as a Reading First Coordinator. After four years in that role, Amici joined the ETeam, where he provided professional development in ELA and technology. Before his work at Erie 1 BOCES, Amici was a classroom teacher at Highgate Heights Elementary School in the Buffalo Public Schools, where he taught as a kindergarten, fifth-grade, and first/second-grade multi-aged class teacher.

He earned a Bachelor's degree from SUNY College at Buffalo in Elementary Education N-6 with a science concentration. He went on to receive a Master's degree from SUNY at Buffalo in Elementary Education with a reading concentration. Amici also holds a School District Administration Certification from St. Bonaventure University.

Amici’s wife of 22 years is a second-grade teacher in Buffalo. His son is starting his junior year at North Greenville University in South Carolina and is a member of the men's lacrosse team and his daughter is entering her senior year at Williamsville East High School. During his free time, Amici coaches travel softball.

When asked, Amici said “Working with the wonderful administrators, teachers, staff and students the past 3 years made it an easy decision for me to become a Warrior.”
