Optional At Home COVID-19 Test Kits are Being Made Available for District Students

This is an important message from Cheektowaga Central School District Superintendent, Steven Wright.

As you might have heard Governor Hochul is making available at home COVID 19 test kits for every student that attends one of our schools. The purpose of these tests is to allow parents an easy way to be sure there child is not sick with COVID-19 before sending them to school the Monday following Winter Break.  This is one of the easiest and most important things we can do to be sure we maintain a safe school community. We know schools are safe, important and must remain open for instruction five days a week. We must all do our part.

The latest information I received is that the District will receive the tests either Friday or Saturday.  Depending on when we receive our shipment we will notify families of the distribution times and location. We are hoping that we can distribute tests on Saturday and Sunday but can not guarantee this at the moment.

To clarify, these tests are optional. No student or family is required to participate. This is just one more layer of protection for each of our children. This should not be confused with any other program being discussed. It is a one time effort to provide parents with a piece of mind.

The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) has created an online form to report any positive at home COVID-19 test results. If you or your child tests positive please visit erie.gov/hometestreport and complete the online form.

When available we will update you with the most recent information.
