Scott Zipp Named Assistant Superintendent
The Cheektowaga Central School District named Scott Zipp, the high school principal, as Assistant Superintendent. He will begin his new role on July 1. He will be responsible for serving as the district’s chief information officer and oversee all aspects of the business office and human resources.
He began his career at Cheektowaga Central High School in 1998 as a biology teacher. During the 2008-2009 school year, he was a teacher on special assignment. In 2009 he was named assistant high school principal and held that post until 2014 when he was named high school principal. He has also been a varsity coach in the district for 23 years.
In his high school leadership role he created a positive school-wide culture for students and staff. He developed a character education program that has been integrated with daily instruction. He created the Lead Teacher framework for the high school and was the lead administrator for the district’s COVID-19 reopening plan. He was a visible presence at open houses, parent teacher conferences, community nights and the virtual town hall parent information sessions.
Within the community, he was an original committee member for the opening of a Boys and Girls club in the town of Cheektowaga and later served as the financial representative for the Boys and Girls Club of Cheektowaga, Depew and Lancaster.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in science education from Buffalo State College. He earned a master’s degree in science education and school building leader certification from Canisius College. He earned a certificate of advanced studies in school district leader from Niagara University.
He will fill the position of Assistant Superintendent Steven Wright who will begin July 1 in his new role as Superintendent of Schools.
