New York State Unified Basketball 2021-2022


    Students from the Cheektowaga Central High School's Unified Basketball Team have been selected to represent New York State at the Special Olympics USA Games. The goal of the Special Olympics USA Games is to celebrate the athlete’s abilities both on and off the field, and to shine as one as we all become champions for a more inclusive world.

    About the USA Games

    The Special Olympics New York USA Games delegation – Team New York – will include nearly 200 athletes and coaches competing in 14 sports, including Cheektowaga’s own Unified Basketball team. The Unified Warriors will be one of three sports teams representing New York State at this elite national competition.

    The USA Games is scheduled for June 5-12, 2022 at Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. More than 5,500 athletes and coaches from all 50 states and the Caribbean will compete.

    About Unified Sports

    In a Unified Champion School, students with and without disabilities compete together as teammates. Special Olympics New York partners with nearly 250 Unified Champion Schools and 10,000 participating students statewide. Cheektowaga is a leader among them, being one of 14 to have achieved national banner status, the highest national recognition available to Unified schools.
