Erin Weir Named Director of Pupil Personnel Services
The Cheektowaga Central School District (CSD) named Erin Weir to the position of Director of Pupil Personnel Services, effective August 8. Weir will be responsible for overseeing services, including but not limited to special education, counseling, nursing, social work, psychological, behavioral, occupational, physical, and speech therapy. She will work closely with staff members to ensure that students and families are receiving top-notch services while remaining in close communication with all service providers, community members, and stakeholders.
Weir comes to Cheektowaga CSD from the Buffalo Public Schools where she was employed for the past 10 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist with a dedicated focus for providing efficacious and meaningful therapy. She participates on the Committee on Special Education and has a passion for advocating on behalf of children and families. During the summers she has serviced preschoolers and students in Early Intervention for local agencies.
She earned a Bachelor's degree from SUNY College at Buffalo in in Speech and Hearing Science and then went on to receive a Master's degree from SUNY Buffalo State College in Ed in Speech-Language Pathology. Weir is a NYS- Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who has been nationally accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association (CCC-SLP). She also holds a NYS TSSLD certificate and is currently pursuing a second Master's degree at SUNY College at Buffalo in Educational Leadership and Policy. She’s a member of the Leadership Initiative for Tomorrow’s Schools (LIFTS) program Cohort 28, and working towards earning her Advanced Certificates as a School District Leader and a School Building Leader.
Weir’s husband of five years is a high-school special educator in the Buffalo Public Schools. They are busy toddler parents who enjoy exploring local Western New York parks and visiting local restaurants, are avid Buffalo Bills fans and memorabilia collectors.
When asked, Weir said “Working in Cheektowaga has been a dream of mine. The sense of community pride and family-first values demonstrated by the educators and community members of the Cheektowaga CSD has made it an easy decision for me to work for the district. I am honored to have this incredible opportunity to work with the students and families of Cheektowaga.”
