State Qualifier Indoor Track Meet
This past weekend, the select few that made the cut for the State Qualifier Indoor Track meet, competed against the best of the best from Section VI to have the honor to represent Cheektowaga Central School District at the Indoor State Track and Field meet in Staten Island this upcoming weekend. Cheektowaga Central had a fantastic meet and will have five athletes competing in 4 events heading to the states.
In addition, we had some great performances form some that did not qualify – here are some of the highlights:
STATES:
- The 4 x 200 Relay – of Isaiah Harris, Daniel Richardson, Seville Lucas, and CJ Krzanowicz won the event in a season best time of 1:34.13 – and they will be heading to the state meet.
- Isaiah Harris – won the 55 M dash in a time of 6.71 and will also compete in this event at States – in addition to the 4 x 200
- CJ Krzanowicz – took 2nd in both the LJ – 21’ 0” and the 55 H 8.31 and will compete in both events at States
- Amiya Verse – took 2nd place in the 55 M dash 7.66 and will competing at the State meet
OTHER OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES:
- Katrina Chandler – took 3rd in the Weight breaking her own school record with a toss of 42’ 11.5” – missing the state standard by ½” – she also took 5th in the Shot with a heave of 30’ 5”
- David Douglas – ran a personal best in the 300 – and finished 9th overall – posting a time of 1:31.3
The State meet qualifiers will leave Thursday, March 3, for Staten Island where they will compete at the Ocean Breeze Complex on Saturday March 5, 2022.
