Cheektowaga Central School District will offer a full-day Universal Pre-kindergarten Program (UPK) for the 2020-2021 school year starting in September (pending state funding). The program is open to district residents whose children will be three or four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2020.
There will be a random draw lottery to select the UPK students. The random draw applications can be downloaded from our UPK webpage or picked up at Union East Elementary, 3550 Union Rd. or in the Registration Office, located in the High School building at 3600 Union Rd. The random lottery is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 10 a.m.
The three-year old UPK program will be housed at Little Angels Day Care Center. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The four-year old UPK program will be housed at two sites in the district:
Union East Elementary School (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
Little Angels Day Care Center (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
The program will follow curriculum implementing the Pre-K Common Core Standards taught by NYS certified teachers.
Bus transportation will be provided for all children who will be three years of age by the start of the school year. Children who are two but turn three before the Dec. 1 deadline can still attend and may ride the bus once they turn three. Parents are responsible for transportation until their child turns three. Children must be residents of the Cheektowaga Central School District.
